I was looking for another type of empanadas but came across this place and it was a good surprise! There empanadas were delicious but the salty ones and the sweet ones. Staff was friendly and facilities were clean and with a nice setting. Recommended!

I really want to give this place a higher rating, but I wouldn’t be telling the truth. Positives include a fairly clean restaurant and they have more options than what I assumed they would. The first con is that the empanadas are overpriced definitely. When I received my spicy beef empanada, it was so small. For $4.25 plus taxes and they asks for you to tip (which I try to do everywhere I go.) it came out to over $7. I felt cheated. I didn’t see the size until I paid and was shocked. When I tasted the empanada, I expected spices and burst of flavors, and it left me feeling disappointed. Please understand, when you say spicy and it’s not at all spicy, I feel like you’re misleading. On top of all this, the workers weren’t very welcoming, not rude per say but definitely not inviting. I feel like Denver has a lot of empanada locations, so maybe shop around and see what other locations have to offer.

Lazo is a great stop for fast, delicious Empanadas. If you like some heat get the spicy ground beef.
Order: Seven Empeñadas
About: $28
Review: We’ve actually been to Lazo’s a few times, and at a few locations, and their always consistently fast and delicious. They have about 12 different empeñadas and while I’m sure all of them are good, they’ll tell you that the spicy ground beef is solidly the best option. Beyond that we have really enjoyed the ground beef (if you don’t like spicy), the chicken caprese, and the spicy chicken.
Each empeñada is pretty small so I eat about 2 for a snack and 5 for a meal. That can get a little pricy at $4 apiece but in my opinion it’s worth it. The flavors are fantastic and there’s hardly any wait at all. I typically get several spicy beef and then just try a few others that I haven’t had before.
The experience and quality have always been the same across all of their locations. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and the food is exceptionally fast and delicious. Almost any time we are in Denver we wind up at a Lazo Empeñada when we want some good quick food but don’t really need a ton to eat. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for the same.
